This development is not just another routine update—it represents an opportunity for hundreds of aspiring students to secure their place in one of Nigeria’s respected polytechnics, renowned for its academic excellence, practical training, and career-driven programmes.

Screening Schedule at a Glance

  • Dates: Wednesday, 17th – Friday, 19th September 2025

  • Venue: Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic, Ikot Osurua

This three-day exercise will be conducted systematically to accommodate all applicants, both at the National Diploma and Higher National Diploma levels.

Who Should Attend?

The screening exercise is mandatory for all candidates who applied for admission into:

  • National Diploma (ND) full-time programmes through JAMB and the Polytechnic’s admission portal.
  • Higher National Diploma (HND) programmes in the various faculties and departments of the institution.

Failure to attend the screening exercise means forfeiting the admission opportunity for the 2025/2026 session.

Required Documents for Screening

One of the most critical aspects of the screening exercise is documentation. Candidates must come prepared with both original copies and photocopies of relevant credentials.

For HND Candidates:

  1. ND Statement of Result – evidence of successful completion of a National Diploma programme.
  2. Acknowledgment Slip – proof of purchase and submission of the HND admission form.
  3. WAEC/NECO Statement of Results – showing credits in required subjects.
  4. Letter of Completion of Industrial Training (IT) Attachment – a mandatory requirement to confirm the practical experience acquired during the one-year IT.

Note: Original copies must be presented for verification, while photocopies may be submitted to the admission officers.

For ND Candidates:

  1. JAMB Online Result Printout – as evidence of UTME performance and eligibility.
  2. WAEC/NECO Result(s) – with at least five credits including English Language and Mathematics.
  3. Acknowledgment Slip – proof of online registration for the ND admission.

Again, candidates are strongly advised to bring along the original copies of all documents for sighting.

Why This Screening is Important

The screening exercise goes beyond mere formality. It serves multiple purposes, including:

  • Verification of Credentials: To ensure that all documents submitted during application are genuine and valid.
  • Confirmation of Eligibility: To confirm that applicants meet the minimum academic and programme-specific requirements.
  • Transparency in Admission: Screening helps the Polytechnic maintain its reputation for merit-based admissions, ensuring only qualified candidates are admitted.
  • Preparation for Next Stage: Candidates who successfully pass the screening will move to the final stage of the admission process, where names of admitted students will be published.

What Happens After the Screening?

According to the Polytechnic’s management, the names of successful candidates will be published after the screening exercise. This publication will be made available on the institution’s notice boards, website, and possibly in local media outlets.

  • Shortlisted candidates will be contacted and given further instructions regarding acceptance of admission, payment of fees, and registration.
  • Candidates who fail to meet the requirements will not be offered admission but may explore other opportunities, such as applying for part-time programmes or preparing for the next admission cycle.

Tips for Candidates to Prepare

  1. Arrive Early: Screening starts by 9:00 am sharp. Candidates who arrive late risk missing their turn.
  2. Organize Your Documents: Arrange originals and photocopies neatly in a file. This saves time and shows seriousness.
  3. Dress Smartly: Appearance matters—dress decently to reflect your readiness for higher education.
  4. Be Confident: Answer questions politely and confidently if approached by screening officers.
  5. Double-Check Your Results: Ensure your WAEC/NECO and JAMB results meet the programme requirements.
